Interior Decor Trends for 2013!

It’s 2013 and Spring is in the air! Time to refresh your home and revitalize your life! Whatever your style, you’ll be sure to draw inspiration from these top interior design trends:

1.     Green – Shades of green are all the rage. In fact, Pantone LLC, the industry authority on colour, crowned Emerald Green the ‘Colour of 2013’. Pair with vibrant coral, or contrast it with white for a super-radiant room!

2.     Gold – Gold is back! Metals such as gold and brass ooze warmth and pair well with almost any color. Add glamour and gleam with gold accent pieces.

3.     Lacquer – High gloss surfaces are increasing in popularity this year, particularly when using bright colours. If you’re not ready to commit to ultra-shiny walls, try a small lacquered piece of furniture or, take a step further with a lacquered cabinets. This screams modern and fun!

4.     Texture – A variety of texture is a key factor in arranging spaces. Engaging the sense of touch inspires warmth and comfort. Wood, rattan, suede and woven materials are key choices.

5.     Bold Prints and Geometric Patterns – Bold graphic patterns and prints are striking and daring. They inspire energy and adventure. For an exotic effect, incorporate graphic upholstery, drapery, rugs or art into relatively minimalist spaces. The idea is not to overwhelm, but to make things stand out without compromising visual harmony. Be on the lookout for chevron, geometric, ombré and ethnic/tribal prints like Ikat or Moroccan-inspired motifs.

Restaurant Review: Rojo Restaurant at The Spanish Court Hotel

Hi Everyone! In keeping with Restaurant Week I thought I would share this restaurant review on the Rojo Restaurant at the Spanish Court Hotel in Kingston, Jamaica. I know you will appreciate a little feedback on my dining experience...

Location: New Kingston, Jamaica
Restaurant Type: Hotel Restaurant
Dress: Dependent on time of dining.
Special Feature (s): Good selection of international and local cuisine.
Dishes: Appetizer - Pumpkin Bisque made with locally grown pumpkin sautéed, pureed, finished with cream. Entree - Sweet potato crusted snapper with lemon butter sauce.

Cost: Appetizer US$5.10 and Entree US$20.25
Taste: Good
Service: The overall service was good, but we were asked to pre-order as we were a party of 12. This was annoying because some people did not feel like eating what they had ordered 2 days in advance.
Ambiance/Decor: Relaxing atmosphere. Sleek, modern furnishings. Great spot for a glamourous evening in Kingston.
Overall Rating: Good. A little pricey for what's on offer.

What to do if Your Blog has Been Hacked!!

Hi Everyone!

You may have noticed that I've taken a little 'blogging break'. Unfortunately this break was not only due to my being busy, but also to the fact that my lovely little blog got hacked!! You cannot imagine how upset and frustrated I was! I really felt violated and to make matters worse... everything I tried did not seem to fix the problem. Just when I thought all hope was lost and I had come to my wits end, my wonderful-graphic-designer-sisterHannah Newland introduced me to a wonderful-web-developer/miracle-worker who helped me to get my blog back to normal and malware-free.

Ladies and Gents... I would like you to meet Shana-Kay Barnett, Director of REACT Online Marketing Solutions and Author of the It's Possible Blog. Not only did Shana fix my blog issues, but she took the time to explain the problems and to suggest preventative measures to avoid the recurrence of such a nightmare. I was also most impressed by the professional manner in which she handled our interactions.

I decided I would share this information as it will not only be useful for other bloggers, but for anyone that has a website, or surfs the internet...

Introduction

Hundreds of website owners experience security mishaps with their websites and are not sure where to start solving the problem or are not sure what the problem is. They usually say “I have been hacked” based on Google’s notification that their website is suspicious. Hacking refers to malicious code being inserted into a website or webpage that disrupts the normalcy of the website operation. Where the code causes software to be downloaded to the website vierwers’ computer this is Malware. Malware can be introduced by external entities such as software and malicious individuals but can also be unintentionally introduced by the owners or persons who interact daily with the website’s back-end or code. By interacting with the back-end of your website this can be from literally editing html and css codes to inserting photos, text, videos and inserting links.
Websites that link to other websites or create back links are very susceptible. There is no one technique to prevent this all together but before linking to a site use an online linker checker to check the background and status of the website. Here are a few other recommendations:

Preventing Future Infections

         Protect your site
  •   Remove any script, services or other software you know longer use on the website.
  •   Change any default passwords
  •   Before linking to a website use an online link checker such as http://validator.w3.org/checklink
When you have entered the link and clicked “Check” scroll down to see the status. For your own purpose do a check on the link that gave the problem, (http://www.vibrantbride.com/topic/re-jamaican-colors-theme) and scroll down to the bottom and see the results.
  •   Install a security browser plug-in
  •   Periodically backup your website. Here is a good site that shows you how to do this in 3 steps
    http://www.chantillypatino.com/blogging/how-to-backup-your-blogger-site-in-3-simple-steps-
    screen-shots/#axzz26vjcQW69
  •   Secure your browser with https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/browserprotect/ this
should help you pick up on Malwares on websites including yours.
  •
  • Look for strange codes

This may seem tedious and believe me it can be but after a while you will become a pro. I have found an article that will help you in so many ways. It also provides a tool at can check your URL and give you the error. Now this site is a hobby site and may be down from time to time. My advice to you is, read the information, understand it and apply. Here is the website’s URL http://redleg- redleg.blogspot.com/2011/08/malware-blogspot-blooger.html
Here is the tool provided to do the Malware check: http://redleg-redleg.com/file-viewer/blogger/
